It took me a few chapters to really get into The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo but once I did, I really enjoyed it. Similar to her in story character, I was immediately charmed by Evelyn Hugo and invested in her life story.
I thought the The Paris Seamstress was a well written, easy to read book. It takes place at the beginning of France's invasion during WWII and follows a protagonist as she flees to New York and starts her own fashion label.
Let me start by saying, I'm a huge fan of Elin Hilderbrand and have read pretty much all of her books. Something about the familiar characters, Nantucket setting and the promise of love always pull me in and immediately set me at ease.
It took me a bit longer to get into this book but after the first few chapters I was hooked. That said, this isn't a super happy, feel-good type read. I found myself pretty frustrated with the protagonist for most of the book. It honestly feels like watching your best friend marry/date the bad boy who doesn't treat her how she deserves yet she keeps going back to him.
I really enjoyed this book but I went into reading it with unreasonable expectations as it came highly recommended by several friends.
I couldn't put this book down! It sucked me in from the beginning and had me second guessing every twist and turn in the plot.
I loved this book! I thought it was fresh, cheeky and laugh out loud funny.
