Capri, Italy

Capri, Italy

Never have I visited a spot that so many claim as their "favorite place EVER." It is for this sole reason that we elected to stay on the island of Capri for two days over the popular day trip alternative from one of the neighboring Amalfi Coast towns.

JSD May Book Review: Something in the Water

JSD May Book Review: Something in the Water

I'm reading this book as part of a book club with my girlfriends and it was super easy to get through. Interestingly enough, people had a better overall impression of this book before coming together as a group to discuss it, myself included. One of the things I really enjoyed in Something in the Water was Steadman's style of suspense writing. She has the ability to make even the most mundane acts bone chilling through words alone.

Cinque Terre, Italy

Cinque Terre, Italy

Pronounced (CHINK-weh TAY-reh). I hate to say it but I had pretty low expectations for Cinque Terre. Of course all the colorful, cliff dwelling towns are picturesque but everything I had read talked about how uncomfortably packed the five small fishing towns are with tourists, the unwelcome cruise ship ports and the threat of imposing tourism limits. I was pleasantly surprised when Cinque Terre turned out to be one of my favorite stops in Italy!

Baby Bolognese Recipe

Baby Bolognese Recipe

A new recipe that I tried this week which Palmer LOVED is Baby Bolognese. It is super simple, chock full of vegetables, no added salt or spices and still delicious. So good that I'm actually planning to make a second batch for Kevin and myself to eat.

I truly believe sleep in the early days is luck of the draw. Each baby is different - some are more inclined to sleep than others and there's no quick fix. Hopefully, over time, that can be corrected through patience, structure and routine but at this stage physical touch and ensuring the baby feels secure and comforted far outweigh schedules.
